		<description>
	Kyulim Kim (b.1993) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam and Seoul. Her work and research ask how spaces that are experienced and represented as fixed could be uncovered as fluid through the use of audio-visual technologies. Often, it takes place within the context of transitional and neglected spaces that arise from urban transformation and displacement. Within the practice, there has been a continuous interest in the spatiality produced through the process of relocating places, focusing on investigating the movement of matter that resists transportation or retains an inseparable connection to places. Building on this, and in an attempt to capture the invisible, more recent work has looked at the structures and processes through which images are made and lost.

600 Minutes, 2025, 16mm film projection on glass, LED panels, OLED TV display, Light, dimensions variable, 600 min.
600 Minutes (2025) begins with the ultra- highresolution image generated as part of the restoration of the Rembrandt painting,&#38;nbsp;The Night Watch (1642), currently underway at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This image is the largest and most precise photograph of an artwork to date, created by combining 8,439 individual photos captured with a 100-megapixel camera and processed using AI technology. Previously examined how data gaps were addressed in the observation image of the M87 black hole, recently explores the fluid status of an image as data and infrastructure derived for precise analysis during the restoration of a painting. Alongside this, a 16mm film recorded with a stereoscopic lens, capturing the restoration process on the museum’s glass, is positioned as another layer of the ultra-high-resolution image. This juxtaposition reveals the dynamic structure of temporality surrounding the restoration of artworks. On one side, an aged 16mm film, now faded to only its magenta layer after losing yellow and cyan, serves as a reminder that analog moving image media, like painting, also possesses a processual materiality. Restoration is not merely about returning a work to its original state; it is a process of erasing the temporality of the original and reconstructing it into a new form. Through the attributes of restoration, the work investigates how images intertwine with time and how imaging techniques that capture and visualize the invisible and the disappearing transform and reconstruct the nature of images. 600 Minutes superimposes heterogeneous media and display devices in a deliberately misaligned manner, presents non-linearity of time that surrounds a mediated image.

White Hole, composed of three 16mm projectors, explores the theme of disappearance, through the choreographed movement of the camera trajectories of disappearance and emission of matter in the contexts of black and white holes. During filming, the drone fell into the water, causing the footage to be lost. The remaining cache files were then printed onto 16mm film, physically translating the loss and residual traces of the digital image. The movement of the emitted material was subsequently recreated with a digital camera and printed onto 16mm film. Simultaneously, the filming location—an abandoned mine—was captured in 16mm from a different perspective.&#38;nbsp;

 Receiver Cabin films eight mixer receivers that capture and analyze electromagnetic waves. The work visualizes the pathways of electromagnetic waves as they are reflected and guided within the receivers.
Additionally, certain angles that cannot be directly captured due to the space's physical limitations are made visible through placed mirrors. These mirrors, arranged alongside other works, create a composition reminiscent of the unique setup of mirrors and receivers that enables the simultaneous observation of different frequency bands.

a. Sierra Nevada, mono audio, 5 min.
b. 30-meter millimeter-wave radio astronomy observatory, mono audio, 6 min.
c. Old mine, mono audio, 11 min.

〈5, 6, 11〉 is a three-channel audio installation work composed of mono sounds. The 5-minute sound (a) is recorded during a visit to an observatory in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain. It captures footsteps and movement sounds, highlighting the physicality and mobility within the piece. The 6-minute sound (b) records the sounds produced by the operation of observation equipment within the observatory. The 11-minute sound (c) is recorded in an abandoned mine, with a structure that reverses the sound in the latter part of the work. These three sounds operate independently, accompanied by three 16mm projectors and seven screens, each functioning on its own timescale.

Two channel video installation, 11’30’’

A snow depth sensor looks into empty space for extended periods of time, even when snow is absent. Through the lens of this sensor’s observation, Dear Snow poses the question: What does the camera observe during these prolonged moments when no subject is present?
The exploration is delineated into two channels. The first channel concentrates on the physical movement required to detect a subject through the sensor, while the second channel focuses on the state of observation, even in the absence of a valid subject. The work looks into the physical movement and state of the Snow depth sensor itself, beyond its functional aspects.

Single channel video, 11’20’’
Particulate matter scatters light and obstructs our vision, limiting what we can see whilst being invisible to the naked eye. Shot during days of high particulate matter levels, 'Dust' (2023) traces the flow of imperceptible matter through the time-lapse function of a camera. In conjunction with the sound of an almost silent field recording, stretched and amplified, ‘Dust’(2023) reveals the unheard sound of near-stillness layer by layer.

 Video, 2-channel audio, tactile transducers, 08’50’’in collaboration with Luis Lecea RomeraHigh, Relief, is an audio-visual essay recorded and filmed in the aftermath of the 2021 Cumbre Vieja eruption in the cemetery of Las Manchas. As the volcano calms down, tremors produced by seismic activity are occasionally difficult to differentiate from those of anthropic origin. The work approaches residual vibrations in human and mineral debris as interferences between the factual and the conjectural.Direction: Kyulim Kim, Luis LeceaCamera, Editing: Kyulim KimSound recording, Editing: Luis Lecea RomeraDocumentation photography: Nicola BarattoInstallation view at NEVERNEVERLAND, Amsterdam, 2023</description>
